While we wait…

The cold danish winter is upon us with temperatures way below the normal winter which would also be the reason for the lack of updates on here.

So here is a post about a job i recently did with FSC crewmate OBEE in a small officespace. Normally I wouldn’t post about these sort of jobs but this one is near and dear to me on a personal level. I have always been a huge fan of cartoons and especially the manga and Marvel style. This job was a sort of crossing between the two. Like if Marvel and manga hooked up and and gave birth to a lovechild. The client is a friend of the Furious crew and a long time fan of cartoons and really gave us no limitations as long as the background was a roughed up poison greenish and something cartoonish was featured on the wall.

Around 2006 a friend of mine told me about a new cartoon series starring Samuel L. Jackson, theme music by RZA and was about a weedsmoking ghetto samurai out for revenge for the murder of his father who happens to be the no.1 samurai in the world. I was exicited. The visual work on the cartoon was insane. A manga styled storyline wrapped in a Marvel styled blanket. Perfect for a themewall, which evidently others realized as well. It has been done numerous times, but I’ve always craved to give it a go for myself. Just never got around to do it. Until now 6 years later.

I really wanted to make this as good as I possible could. So for this one I decided to use a projector for first time and even marker outlined key parts of the character! Shame on me. The projected image wouldn’t fit the entire wallspace as needed due to the small officespace so I used the projector as much as possible and freehanded the rest. Two long days, buckets of coffee and tea, a lot of bullshiting, cars refusing to start late at night because of cold weather -later we ended up with this. Feeling no shame at all from my ‘projector/marker cheating’ i’m pretty happy with the result.

Big ups OBEE for the cool background.
